Fatawa for Women cutting her hair
Shaikh bin Baz رحمه الله تعالى
Shaikh Salih al-Fawzan رحمه الله تعالى
👤 Sh.bin Baz: "We do not know of any issue in women cutting hair, what is forbidden is shaving, it is not allowed for a woman to shave her hair, however cutting it from its length (shortening it) or reducing its volume we do not know of any issue in it.
It is required however that it be done in a good manner that you and your husband are pleased with, hence you agree with him upon the length/style, which must not be in resemblance to the non-Muslim women.
Similarly, keeping it long may create difficulty in maintaining it in terms of washing and combing and the likes, so if a women cuts some due to its length or volume then it's not an issue, and if cutting it brings about beautification that you and your husband are pleased with then there is no issue we are aware of...."
👤Sh.Fawzan: "...if however she cuts it to copy non-Muslim women or the sinners, then there is no doubt in the impermissibility of that, even if (those styles) are widespread among the Muslim women, as long as the origin is imitation then it's haram, just because it's widespread doesn't permit it." فتاوى المرأة المسلمة ص٥
